Have all the answers, they will make mistakes and learn from them. McCullum probably doesn't think charging and leaving the first ball of a world Cup final was even a mistake. There is more than enough talent to challenge for test series finals, but it won't happen under this setup #Ashes

Selection etc you look at, whether that be just in Australia or for 3 years, none of it has given England the best chance of success. There have been plenty of critical observers, many successful ex cricketers, simply shut down for pointing this out. Any successful group has to accept they don't....

This was as good an opportunity to win the first two tests as England could have wished for. Talk was of winning the ashes before the series, I suspect a win or two in the final tests will be treated as a form of success and not the abject failure it is. Whatever aspect of preparation, attitude..

Brook is the obvious example, best talent in a generation, but allowed to bat like it doesn't matter and is just a knock about. He's a far better player than that, but he's not been challenged by this group to improve and learn. With injuries and lack of form for Australian batters.....

Rather than adapt and improve the hubris and arrogance shown meant players didn't improve and didn't learn from mistakes. There is serious talent in English cricket, the job of coaches and support staff is to get the best out of that talent, a job they've singularity failed to do

Key appointed McCullum and has overseen the complete devaluation of county cricket. Completely baffling appointment and subsequent decisions. For years anyone could see batting positively was good, but reckless abandon would come unstuck against good teams, as has been shown.

Bashir has been unable to get in a county XI for years but England backed him based purely on suitability for Australia, yet the series has gone and he's not been seen. Stubbornness meant there was no plan b, no idea of looking at another spin bowler so Jacks has to do - he's really a batter

There's been zero accountability for poor dismissals and brain dead cricket for years. If there had been perhaps lessons would have been learned before Australia? Crawley, 2nd innings was the best he's ever batted once he focused on knuckling down and not giving his wicket away. No coincidence

Love that we're a nasty, physical team full of shithousery when needed

What a difference 12 months makes

Also the referee was as bad as at Birmingham and again we probably got the rub of the poor decisions, ridiculous red card

Completely agree, neither really deserves to be hooked but can't leave it as it is

Anderson, even at his age, would have been perfect for the series so far. Instead the 'brains' of English cricket forcibly retired him and we now have Carse with a new ball. Talk about weak men all you want, the clear mistakes; Anderson, Crawley, Bashir and zero accountability happened years ago

Really? Ball doing plenty, barring a leg stump half volley and full toss it's been entirely back of a length and no thought of challenging the stumps

Something, something, altar boys
