People are kind of hilarious. Today I found an antique spinning wheel at a secondhand shop in Sickla, and I was taking it home on the subway. This, of course, garners some stares and comments. One woman sat down next to me and asked me about it, and I enthused about my find.

I’m always playing with something new, and I’m not all that fussed about doing something especially well at the playing stage of things. This week it’s basketry. Here is my third attempt at making a base (first two attempts did not hold). This is fresh willow.

It’s has been a bad morning. So join me in gazing at my knitting project, made from handspun Texel that I dyed with some roots. Notice how the messy coffee table is out of focus. We don’t look at that. Just the knitting.

Middle age is amazing. Tonight I got wine drunk, took the dog for a walk, had a zoom call with an editing client, and uprooted a dye plant.

This was my favorite sweater that I knit for my kids. It’s made from handspun BFL, it’s an Elizabeth Zimmerman pattern I think.

It’s #mendingmarch and I’m fixing a little rip so these jeans will last longer. I love an artistic and visible mend, but these jeans are my husband’s, and he prefers to not stand out.

It started off wonky, but now I’m getting the hang of it, and figuring out how tight the weft needs to be pulled. Pretty cool!

Lately I have been experiencing the burning desire to learn how to weave. My family has made clear to me in no uncertain terms that getting even a small table loom would put me well over the allowable limit of handcraft equipment that we can fit in our small European apartment.

So this winter I’m just doing a little of everything to see what people like enough to buy and what I like enough to make repeatedly. Today I photographed yarn and “posed” it with hand turned crochet hooks.
