I see a lot of bebe narrators put themselves down because they aren’t perfect. But no one is perfect. Not Audie award winners, not the Big 5 publishers. There are always errors and some of these errors fall through the cracks. And THATS OK.
Perfection isn’t the goal. Keep improving.

I typically have two playlists of music for every novel I write. One is a collection of music without lyrics (mostly trailer music or film scores). The other playlist pulls on music with lyrics, and that’s my brainstorming music. For a Cold War spy novel set in 1983, you might expect this to only have music from that time period, and I initially did start with a playlist like that. The theme I’ve learned this week:
Audiobook narrators are hired because we have emotions, we can relate to text, we can get nitty gritty.
That is why a RH chooses YOUR VOICE.
If they wanted perfect, they would’ve picked AI.
So stay gritty, stay imperfect. Be confident in all your imperfections.
