Skin-Singer: Tales of the Kaltaoven

A collection of semi-cozy shape-shifter stories, set in a low-tech secondary world, with a sapphic background romantic arc.

Originally appearing in the Sword and Sorceress anthology series they are completed with a brand new novelette.

Alas, she only kicked him out. In the last scene. I do not have my catharsis.

Watching "In For A Murder" on Netflix and I will be very disappointed if the husband doesn't die before the end of the show. What an asshole.

Today’s adventures reminded me that, for my corporate retirement gift, I’d chosen a wet/dry shop vac. So now I’ve unpacked and assembled it and am taking it for a spin.

Well, the refrigerator is all repaired, but there are still 5 police cars and an EMT hanging out. They said they wanted to get a statement from me, but I guess I’m low priority.

I take it back the leaking refrigerator is not today’s most exciting thing. That would be the collision and fight in the street in front of my house that currently is up to 6 police cars, a fire truck and an emt vehicle (not counting the ambulance present during the original incident).

There are many situations when being retired is a plus. A new KJ Charles book is one of them.

Today’s excitement is a water leak from my refrigerator. Repair person on the way.

Oh, it's a facsimile, not an original! If it had been an original, it would have been on the 4th floor in antiquarian books, not the 3rd floor with the non-English language books.

I was in Moe’s Books today and stumbled across this gem. A Paris guidebook written in 1828. And I just happen to have some characters heading to Paris two years earlier.
A book titled Guide de Paris 1828

Alas, I don't meet any qualifications for permanent residence in Ireland. My BFF is in the process of getting her "my grandparent was Irish" passport, though. My Irish (maybe) ancestors bugged out of there in 1708. (Due to persecution of Quakers.) Statute of limitations is past.

I would like to subscribe to your political platform and vote for you. (Just kidding about the voting for you -- I wouldn't wish that burden on a friend!)

It's that time of year when I search on "daylight savings change" before scheduling zoom interviews because I may be talking to someone on a different change schedule than me. It's tempting to just schedule everything by UTC but there are too many people who respond, "What huh?"

Another place where attendants have to clean up unwanted ceremonially deposited human remains is the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland. People are strange.

If you're thinking of invasive spotted lanternflies, I think we don't have them here in California. Plenty of other bugs to munch, though.

Does he understand that this is the equivalent of asking for a summary of a long-running serial (tv, manga, whatever)?

I hate talking to institutions on the phone because I always have to fight my way past a chatbot to get to someone who can actually understand my (complex and highly situational) issue in a meaningful way. If a chatbot could handle it, I would have already dealt with it directly on my own.

Sometimes when I'm writing a podcast script I worry about how much repetition of the same underlying content I do. And then I remember that most people don't go back and listen to the entire back catalog and I relax a little. (This assumes that I'm always getting new listeners.)
