We want to inspire creativity by providing designs, education, and complementing hand-dyed yarn to the knitting community - encouraging slow fashion and promoting “knit-to-last” projects that focus on quality and longevity.

Stash busting with The Simple Thing by @heathlandknits.bsky.social

As the name implies - it's quite simple, which makes it perfect for modification.

I'm using fingering weight yarn, 3.25mm needles, and I'm increasing/decreasing every 10 rows.

Today’s exercise: Playing with yarn color combinations by making beautiful wraps. The colors are inspired by the shown painting. I think I’ll knit them, too.

Even if a pattern might not be a typical lace pattern, washing (which mostly means soaking) will always relax the fabric. The pattern will truly unfold and shine.

How I work German Short Rows in Garter Stitch knitting:

1. Turn knitting at desired position
2. Slip first stitch with yarn in front
3. Put thread to back and pull such that both legs of the stitch below show up
4. Go on with the knitting

When knitting next full row, knit though both legs.

I recently had the joy to test two machine knit pattern. One is the vest of the “Birchcliffe Twinset” by Nic Corrigan. It is done using Holst Garn supersoft.

The other is the Boatneck Mohair Jumper from Hannelie Bekker
which I knitted with my Suri-Silk yarn.

Pattern published: The Little Collar!

To defy the cold and still look fancy, I have knitted a small collar that can be combined casually or formally with almost anything, from shirts and blouses to dresses.

As extra Christmas treat I published a free tutorial for a Christmas version.

My version of Westknits 2024 Hiberknitting Glowhair Frost Shawl!

The Hiberknitting started Christmas and is running throughout January, ending just before Valentine’s Day. Therefore my color combination is called “Cozy Valentine”. It is a mix of my hand-dyed 4-ply merino and fluffy alpaca.
