Reports suggests there are upwards of 20k amputees in Ukraine as a result of Russia’s full scale invasion . Many are rehabilitated with the help of volunteers and charities . Prince Harry’s visit to one of these centres is nothing short of commendable

Why was Vance even in the room , it looked like a deliberate ambush in front of the US media . Zelenskyy can be clumsy with his English but these two have no idea what it is to live through war, to fight for the survival of your people

Let’s not forget that the USA’s support pre Dec 1941 was a transactional Lend Lease deal, it was only after Pearl Harbour, two years into a brutal war, with Britain the last standing bastion of European democracy, that finally America stepped in. That loan was paid off in 2005

Is this the end of American hegemony? “The rest of the world accepted US global leadership not out of deference but because it was a good deal for almost everybody. With Trump, that won’t be the case any longer.”

One also has to remember that Ukraine doesn’t have to accepts any bilateral agreement between the US and Russia if (a big if) Europe are willing step up and assist Ukraine. Russia is exhausted and Trump is handing Putin an unconditional victory, instead of facing defeat, the courts and reparations

From what we’re seeing from reports Trump will give Putin the world for a Ukraine peace deal , just so he can say he made the Deal , even if Ukraine suffers immeasurably for it . Let’s hope this is all noise and disinformation

Lavrov’s comment says it all “What sort of territorial concessions do you want — that we give up Russian speakers or rare earths?” The invasion was all about Ukraine’s rich resources. If Russia cared so much about Russian speakers why the meat grinder warfare ? www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2...

Calls by Trump for NATO’s members to take responsibility for their own security has many causes . It could be that the USA just can’t afford it . Spending is down to 3.4% of GDP, most Americans won’t fight, and the quality of recruits has dropped www.newyorker.com/magazine/202...

On Hegseth's comments, I would recommend re-reading the detailed briefing I wrote while at Munich a year ago. On whether Europe could defend itself without America, what that would require, and why leadership was as much of a problem as raw military power. www.economist.com/briefing/202...
Can Europe defend itself without America?
It would need to replace military aid, a nuclear umbrella and leadership
