And, wet and clumpy, you end up raking almost 1/2 mile of them from a local trail to prevent people from slipping on the steeper hills as part of a neighborhood service project.

It’s also a nightmare for bikes since the sides of the roads are now a slippery mess of detritus.

I tied about 50lbs of excess treated lumber from our deck project to my back with some rope, a couple lashings, and a couple double half-hitches. I’m knotty like that.

Spent the morning with a few other guys in the neighborhood improving our local trail system. People kept cutting the curve and *slight * hill, eroding the bank. Made a retaining wall, flattened the hill a bit, and widened the uphill side.

Do people think the old docs or the new docs look better?

Old: github.com/Azure/azure-...

New: github.com/Azure/azure-...

The code to create a SecretClient in #rustlang is a little higher up in the README. This mirrors what most other #AzureSDK languages do while allowing us to compile snippets.

Not sorry. I've been running into some timing-sensitive issues with a few tests lately that @larryosterman.github.io nor our CI repro. The code works fine, but some occasional off-by-1 errors in assertions.

100th consecutive week on #Zwift! I ride outdoors more spring through early fall, but always make a point to get at least one indoor ride in. Nice option to have, especially when roads start getting slick with detritus or ice here.

New version of the (unofficial) Azure Key Vault CLI (akv) available on #homebrew or from github.com/heaths/akv-c...

This version adds key and certificate management, along with updates to use the latest #AzureSDK for #rustlang crates we're getting close to GA'ing.

Small change the size of a large change coming to #AzureSDK for #rustlang: while all client methods continue to be async, deserializing models is now sync. In most cases we already buffered the entire response anyway, but the goal was making sure we do so entirely in the pipeline (policy chain).

Head resting on the step stool I made lower than the sofa? That’s a…choice.

With #macOS Tahoe 26, I figured out a fun little command to set 🦀 as the folder icon for any #rustlang projects...not that I use Finder much (terminals FTW).

Completed day 2. Cool and overcast again, but better than too hot. Got coal-rolled twice by some hick that kept turning around to do it repeatedly to a bunch of us - a charity ride.

Competed another century ride yesterday at my second Deception Pass Class for #BikeMS. Though I beat last years’s moving time, elapsed time was a little longer since I took a more time at the feed stations chatting with people, so it was more fun! #cycling

After starting a discussion on the problems of supporting different async executors in #rustlang at #RustConf25 #UnConf, I got to talking more with these two devs working on, from L-R: #AwsSdk, #AzureSdk, and #GcpSdk.

Now Archer is sad and will just have to settle for his dozen other plushies scattered around the house.

He doesn’t like them having to live in a basket we have for them.

We stopped for coffee in North Bend at Arete (really good!) - their second location, which is in a bike shop - and saw this in their window.

He also did his longest ride on Saturday going from North Bend through the Snoqualmie tunnel and back. His road/gravel bike is a little large for him now since it’ll matter less for road biking, so I got a decent one. Put a shorter stem on there for now and it fits him well enough.

Son and I finished replacing his old fork with a suspension fork. Bike is a bit small, but he’s hitting his tween growth spurt so I didn’t want to get him a mountain bike that’ll only last him a year or so. Figured this’ll do for now since he’s just getting into mountain biking.

And now all the way up. The blue covers are to protect the fabric somewhat. Like I said: it’s his perch. 🙂
August 18, 2025 at 3:25 AM
Just snapped this.
August 18, 2025 at 3:14 AM
Oh, I’ve got pics! Just not if him on his perch. Sometimes - like today - we’re worried he’s going to push through the screen.
August 18, 2025 at 1:53 AM
Our dog has a similar perch. It’s just his. What monster could say no to this pup?!

(He’s usually directly on it but seems I don’t have a picture of that.)
