Heck Awaits
@heckawaits.bsky.social
Judge Advocate, employment lawyer, best-selling author of Three Amigos fan fiction.
Is it, or if it were made by any other director, it would be pretty good? It just happens to have been made by Bong right after Parasite, and I honestly don't know if I can judge it fairly given my expectations.

ICE definitely feels like an inevitable stage along a sequence of events that started with police militarization and passed through "law enforcement wears blue-stripe flag next to Punisher skull."

Also, since promotion to O3 is noncompetitive, being a "former captain" *can* mean "didn't make the cut."
December 4, 2025 at 5:03 AM
Yeah... JAG captains are action officers. Not command advisors in most cases. I'm not saying she's wrong, it's just that it's really strange, remembering the crazy shit I saw (and did) as a JAG captain, to think about that being proffered as automatic expertise.

This comes across as a humblebrag.

No Parasite? You can argue that it's overrated (I disagree), but it is clearly worthy of being VERY HIGHLY rated. Better than BHD, obviously.

She's not wrong, but... "former Army captain"?
December 2, 2025 at 3:26 PM
This Hegseth shit is really more Law of Armed Conflict (LOAC) than I-Law. LOAC is about following US law: the Senate approved a treaty, that treaty requires compliance, and we formalize that in the UCMJ.

What is the point of this exercise? I struggle to see how any single word would be meaningful given the complexity and breadth of the subject.

In this context?

TPUSA posted the paper online, no? That should prove they had it. But the "mentally ill" line was where I think they might get hammered.
December 1, 2025 at 1:07 AM
For TPUSA. They made very specific allegations and obviously had a copy of the paper. I suppose if they relied ONLY on the girl's word it might be different, but still reckless to the truth of the matter. Again - not a defamation lawyer and not in front of Lexis right now. Spitballin'.

In evidentiary terms, I think this is going to be very easy to prove knowledge of falsity.
December 1, 2025 at 12:50 AM
I don't practice torts, but in terms of what TPU is saying about the professor, it's a statement of purported fact, that was untrue, which is derogatory, and which caused damages. That's at least worth a conversation with a good lawyer.

Defamation is a thing. Seems like a pretty slam-dunk case right here.

A technique learned from their Russian mentors.

Indeed. He's probably genuine in his befuddlement. I wouldn't be surprised if he really believed all this "lawyer shit" was just "JAG-offs" "getting in the way." He might still get away with it, and never learn otherwise.

I imagine Hegseth is one of those guys who doesn't "believe" in international law. But I also imagine international law believes in Hegseth. True, he might not wind up in the Hague. Not every war criminal does.

Anyone mentioning the 27% crazification factor is an immediate follow.
