I think largely GDDs are useless for indie scale. They are good for maintaining a consistent vision, but you get that naturally with a small team anyway

Whaling tends to slowly ruin a game by compromising quality of content in exchange for better returns in an increasingly depopulated game but for those genres the old stuff sticks around and holds up so its fine

I think if you have a genre where more content is just plain better (rhythm, dressup, story) it’s a good fit for live service because a long lifetime actually linearly improves quality forever, unlike a BR, MMO, or MOBA where it’s just stirring the pot every 3 months
