...Or something like that. I'm not rereading all that. We'll probably delete this at some point, just... We love these books so much. We'll forever be in debt to Pargin for writing the books that supported us for the past nine years

We've always related a lot to Dave in the sense of his struggle with his mental health was almost always echoing where we were. We're excited that we get to heal along side him for another book.

Over the years, the John Dies series has shown us the main trio going from early 20 yearolds with bad addictions and shitty coping mechanisms, to adults who are trying so fucking hard to make the small circle they have around them a place to love living in. Or, at the very least, not a shitty place.

And now this new book will come out next year. We'll have lived with our partner in our shared apartment for 2 years at that point. We're finally, FINALLY in a place in our life where we are actually living. Not for anyone else, but because we want to. Because we're excited to.

JDATE4 came out when we were living with our partner and her mom in a *really* red state. It was the first time in our life that we ever felt like there was a future for us that wasn't going to be painted with the blood of someone, whether that was going to be our own or someone we once loved.

JDATE3 came out the same week that CPS was called on our mom. We read it in the moving van while leaving that apartment to escape the living situation. We reread it again when she passed.

The series has been with us during EVERY high and low in our memory. The first real conversation our partner and us had was because she sent us a PDF of JDATE2. Then we binge read both books. And then watched the film like 50 times over
