I have my issues with Newton, but I think he's done good work here. There were a lot of things about the post that made my BS meter twitch, and I'm glad someone bothered to do some checking (AI reliance aside).

Absolutely. Outreach was a competitor at the time, but there are a lot of folks in the space, and they primarily care about recurring rev, not reputation.

This stuff has been around for over a decade. I'm sure the current providers are using some form of ML to produce leads, but this is all generic automated sales lead generation. Not industry-specific by any means. For reference, I worked at a now defunct service provider for this stuff.

They have systems that generate leads which pull stuff from data brokers based on a set of criteria. If a human even bothered to look at the list before it was pushed out, I'd be stunned.
