I wouldnt call ICE a secret police yet due to it not operating in the secretness as the usual secret police, plus a few more reaons but the fact that trump has managed to get it so far only proves how easy it is in the US to create such things.

And it being shut down dont change the fact that the US state showed its colours, that they are willing to resort to such messures to protect itself.
And Trump is now atempting to use ICE in a similar fashion, tho not as effective as they cant infiltrate or sabotage, just arrest unwanted people.

This exists in Sweden, we have whats known as Social Corporatism, the Labour Unions activly work with the Employeer organizatiosn to find common ground and the state acts as a third part to mediate between these.

The point of a political party is not to move and do what ever the voters want, it is to convince the voters that what they stand for is the correct position.
If the population belives something the party doesnt, the party shouldnt just give upp on that for populist self gain.
