Intense days for our PhD student @hejfabienne.bsky.social. In a joint effort @au.dk ,#ntnu PhD student @leayero.bsky.social & #UiB, have deployed 8 geophones + 2 soundtrap hydrophones along a #DAS enabled #fibercable in #Svalbard to compare #shipnoise measurements in an Arctic fjord 🚢🔊🐋 #seasounds

⬆️recovered 2 after 9 months!

There's so much to learn about how #marinemammals are impacted by 🚤🔊 #shippingnoise. And we just got closer to understanding masking effects in frequencies way above the "normal low-frequency" ranges.

POV: Mia & Jakob successfully recovered an 🔊 acoustic array at a #WindFarm in the #NorthSea 🌊 - part of our #AcousticMonitoring work for #Energinet.
With the gear safely back, we can now look (& listen🎧🖥️) for #porpoise 🐬 vocalisations to learn more about how they move around the wind turbines.

New #AWI study shows: Fin whales in the Southern Ocean in #Antarctica have specific acoustic signatures per population. Based on these acoustic markers, researchers were able to identify five different fin whale populations in the Southern Ocean. 🌍🐋
