Today I am #bloomscrolling another unbelievably gorgeous one from Waterperry Gardens in Wheatley, where the gardeners were pruning them in hope of yet more blooms!

Open until January!

Lots of anger in the media re new exhibition at Canterbury cathedral (not open yet, so rants from JD Vance and Elon Musk rather premature). There is currently just one piece of graffiti (not real graffiti, not actually painted direct on to the building, obvs!) by the entrance - thought it was superb

So tomorrow I’m excited to be off to Canterbury to interview Mary Kells at her book launch for ‘God Beyond Gender’!

Continuing to read Monica Furlong’s “C of E: The State it’s in” and her description of 2000 could be 2025. An ‘undervalued and under-used’ laity; depressed clergy; ‘a controlling clerical oligarchy’; denial; guilt; and ‘If only the Church could lead the battle against prejudice for once…’

While we wonder who will be the next Archbishop, here is Monica Furlong on ++Michael Ramsey on the CofE: late 1960s. Would CofE survive into the next century? “Well, you know, that is not certain, not certain, not certain, at all”

#Bloomscrolling today involved hot orange flowers for a very hot day

Honoured to have a chapter in this new book, about Maude Royden. You don’t know about her? First woman to preach in the Church of England… and far, far more. “Sex is not a dirty thing”, she wrote.

This is a great exhibition in a great museum in a great city: ‘Unseen’ at the Rijksmuseum Boerhaave in Leiden!
