New horizons- happy new year everyone

Well folks, today marks the last day of full-time work after 43 years and 4 months. I’ve loved it all, and worked with some brilliant, creative and kind students and colleagues. Tomorrow I’ll be part time (3 days) for the first time. Feels a bit sad, but I’m not going anywhere yet…

It ends up sounding paternalistic at best, or patronising. .. especially when it comes from people with social privilege. Or just vague, like 1970s beauty queens.

Very interesting- and yes, agree. The issue is also that there are often a lot of platitudes, such as wanting to ‘change the world’ without any clear articulation of what they want to change, why, and how they will do it.
