My first experience tending to butterflies. Swallowtail caterpillars appeared on parsley in my garden beds. I netted the plants. The caterpillars eventually dispersed. This one I got to watch since it chose a garden hose for the chrysalis. 🦋 #Butterflies #Swallowtail

A small wren with barring and a short tail that points up. There are two dry logs on the ground, one criss-crossing the other, and the wren is about to hop off the lower log and continue foraging.

Snow Goose at Norman Lake (I hope I'm correct about this and it isn't actually a Ross's). In 2023, a goose at the lake I thought was a Snow turned out to be a Ross's. This time, I thought it was a Ross's but was told it was a Snow. Hendersonville, Tennessee. March 3, 2025. 🪶

I had just about given up on spotting the Swinhoe’s White Eye reported in the area. So lucky to come across a group of five this morning. Glad I had spent a little time listening to a recording of its song; otherwise, I likely would have strolled right past them. Paradise Point, San Diego. 🪶

You think you see another Great Blue Heron then, no wait, that’s a Yellow-crowned Night Heron. This guy was standing on the shore, then decided to take a dip. Paradise Point, San Diego. February 21, 2025. 🪶
