Dude in front of me on the bus was doing deep historical research about the history of Jewish settlers in the Ohio Valley - and I was really curious, peeking over his shoulder, until it turned out he was copying and pasting historical society articles into ChatGPT for "insight" 😬

even just in entertainment, there are at least 1,000 layoffs coming at paramount now that the merger with Skydance has gone through. And that's directly because they think they won't need that many people to make movies or run a big business any more

Maybe hope is irrational but it doesn't make it less necessary, and you have to try to do what you can. easier said than done, ofc, I don't mean to make it sound too simple

Tbh I struggle with the same thing, and I've done a lot of overcommitting to make up for the feeling that nothing's going to last or matter. I think identifying exactly what you want for yourself helps, having something specific to work towards helps counter the abstract dread of everything else

don't know if this is my place to say but it sounds like a timeline thing, almost? Like it's very hard to live in the present if you don't see yourself as having a past or future. Otoh this makes it really easy to be skilled at "coming to terms with the present" if you already expected nothing

All through Mason & Dixon, the boys are worried that they're the puppets for some shadowy conspiracy or another (Freemasons, Jesuits, British King, Penn family, etc.) and in the end Dixon works out they were just working for the abstract concept Slavery, every single thing they did. That's it! Oops!

some people write in books, and I don't, but it's usually fine. however the person who underlined a sentence in the novel im reading in pen and filled the margins with the speaking character, title, and author followed by "great quote for my book!" went too far

I could've phrased that better, it's just strange to see how it feels they're not even an option any more, and that just seems like a bad sign even compared to a few years back

realized part of my motivation for moving might be that I feel more comfortable in a KN95 at work gender expression wise and also think that's something people should still do at least *sometimes*. hard to explain how radical that seemed to some people in wv even when there was flu going around

Actually if Cuomo was promising single mothers up to $2300 in rental assistance I'd support that more than this weird pro-means testing slant
heliotrash.bsky.social
the really telling thing in this whole news cycle has been that Cuomo thinks $2300 /month is *reasonable* rent for an imaginary single mother to pay on state assistance compared to what they'd actually pay for, It's incredibly out of touch thing to imply and he doesn't seem to notice

got distracted by my phone while fiddling with a pen instead of writing with it, and didn't notice the tip was pressing into my tank top and just staining a massive blue blot into it, I think I have a problem

ordered pizza from the back of a bodega by accident?? The cheese wasn't melted but it was pretty tasty. Internet reviews will send you anywhere lol

Tried playing bg3 because it's supposedly a game where choices matter. So far the choices are "do you save the villagers or help the goblins kill them " and "do you give your oc an alien parasite in exchange for an easier game." I gave it about 20 hours :/ cool interface though

this song is so bad I feel bad for reminding people they probably heard it in 2016, whether they wanted to or not

all this "stomp clap" "worst song" discourse is attacking songs that might've at least been genuine while missing an obvious choice for worst 2010s radio hit - Renegades by X Ambassadors, a song *literally* commissioned to sell the Jeep Renegade

I only ever did the one comic about Ozzy and it was back in October 2019
PANEL 1: It's a business meeting in the conference room. Thornsen begins to speak. THORNSEN: "So it starts with Ozzy going 'All aboard' and then laughing in a 'crazy' voice."
PANEL 2: THORNSEN: "Then it's real bassy--all doo-doo. Doo-doo. Doo-doo."
PANEL 3: A bearded duck in the room is listening intently. THORNSEN (off panel): "Then we hear Ozzy do this 'Ai! Ai! Ai!' that echoes all around."
PANEL 4: Thornsen standing up, gesturing. THORNSEN: "Boom! rattle sound! Now we hear this sick riff: doo-doo doo-doo- doo-doo nana do-da doo da
PANEL 5: A woman is smiling with her eyes closed, listening intently. THORNSEN (off-panel): "Couple bars like that, then it REALLY kicks in: 'Doggadogga doo dogga doggadoo."
PANEL 6: Bill, an older duck in glasses and balding interrupts. BILL: "Excuse me--why are we listening to Thornsen describe the song 'Crazy Train?'"
PANEL 7: Thornsen frozen on the spot.
PANEL 8: Bearded guy putting his arms up to tell Bill to back off. BEARDED GUY: "Hang on, Bill, I think we all want to hear this out." PANEL 1: The bearded guy leans in now, gesturing to Thornsen to keep going. BEARDED GUY: "Go on now, don't be stingy."
PANEL 2: Thornsen picks up where he left off. THORNSEN: "Then Ozzy simply says 'Crazy' dogga dogga doo dogga dogga doo dogga dogga DOO"
PANEL 3: A duck woman laughs. WOMAN: "Ha-ha what kind of train ride even IS this?"
PANEL 4: Thornsen dramatically pauses with his finger up. THORNSEN: "Listen though: 'Crazy, but *that's* how it goes." OFF PANEL VOICE: "Fucking what?"
PANEL 5: Close up on Thornsen who knows he's really got them. THORNSEN: "Right? There's more: 'Millions of people, living as foes'"
PANEL 6: A different duck woman leans in to give advice to the bearded guy. WOMAN 2: "Chief, it's incredible. This song is about RIGHT NOW."
PANEL 7: Bill is furious. BILL: "He's supposed to be presenting his departments Q4 budget overruns!"
PANEL 8: Bearded guy is furious now, too. BEARDED GUY: "Dammit Bill, he's trying to teach us how to LIVE!"

Yesterday, I uploaded the ISO image of one of the rarest videogames known to exist, of which a single copy is known to exist in the online world. After years of appeals, its owner finally agreed to share it with me so that I could in turn share it with the world.
