Are news orgs set up to screen for "flooding the zone," or are they too busy reacting to diffuse (and exciting) blither to offer readers a useful hierarchy of information? Editors have difficult jobs these days.

agreed. any single headline or story isn't the problem, but the accumulation of both-sides-ing developments initiated outside constitutional norms leaves the bigger story untold
