There are other, lower touch options than “community manager” to market your game. Not every game needs Community Manager!!! Although it’s always a nice to have. I will die on this hill, probably.

Community is a long term marketing tactic. It takes effort and time. There really is no way of getting around that!

It would be like waiting to write all your code a month before release. Are these analogies helping lol.

When you do that, it sounds like if someone asked what your annual life plan is, and you say ‘I’m gonna hangout with all my friends in December and not talk to anyone the rest the year’ - okay sure, but you’re probably not gonna have very good friendships, then.

Something I really wish more game devs understood is the difference between community and marketing!

Community is a function of marketing, for the most part. Community Manager ≠ Marketing Manager (necessarily, although sometimes people have both skills!)
