Few doctors will see people without collecting up front until deductibles are met. Some 37% of adults in US can’t come up with $400 for an emergency, much less for a doctor visit they don’t truly feel is an emergency need. And maybe it wasn’t to begin with. But by time they’re seen after waiting?🤷🏻‍♀️

It’s an illusion of control, not actual control. $650 in taxes would be bargain, particularly if those taxes paid for people to actually be seen. Premium costs are an issue, but when ppl have a $5000 deductible? For many that makes insurance something they have but don’t use bc they can’t afford to.

Ummm, yeah we have, in so far as finding the will to do anything about it. When Sandy Hook happened-so many baby children-& we did nothing? It was then that realistic people looked at the situation and knew that no matter what, we were never going to. We fail our kids daily. Still we do nothing.

For me the difference in take home pay would be approx $200 a month. Would be worth every penny to have something like the Scottish system in America. The system as it stands here in the US fails all of us. People might argue, but I’ve seen it from the inside. We can’t afford not to fight for it

There is actually a fairly simple tax calculator the Scottish govt offers for use. If you convert your salary or hourly in pounds, you can see what your taxes and take home pay would be there vs US. It might not be spot on perfect, but roundabout anyway.

Because some people place a fairly low price on their integrity. And for others, because an education doesn’t necessarily imbue one with critical thinking skills, nor with common sense, which for all its name is a vanishingly rare trait.

On brand that they set up these changes to torpedo these assistance programs to start AFTER they are safely re-elected by the people who they will screw. CA will take a hit, but red state poor folk are even more screwed I think. Bc their states aren’t thinking how to mitigate effects. So shameful.
