Talent in art does not exist. Yes, some people pick up skills faster, but it all comes down to practice, and, the biggest part: PROBLEM-SOLVING. Show your work. Art isn’t a mystical gift you’re given, it’s brought out because you want to say something and how you communicate it. (6/?)

When someone doesn’t know what they’re doing, it’s obvious and shallow. You want to make something “beautifully evocative?” Maybe choose what you’re evoking first and figure out how to translate that into the work. There’s so much more thought that goes into any art form. (5/?)

AI prompts have the exact same issue. You can ask the LLM for something “textured” or “heartwarming” or “symbolizing artistic bliss” but you’re not ensuring the end product does that. When we say soulless, we mean without substance or exploration. Art is a thousand little tricks and symbols. (4/?)

It’s AI. Not only am I a writer, I’m an illustrator, and let me tell you the invasion of AI content in contest groups has been infuriating. Not only is there disrespect, but those efforts are insultingly sloppy. Just yesterday someone posted their prompt with their piece. Then it clicked. (3/?)

As a writer myself, it is SO transparent when someone does this. Yes, the words you use matter, but you can’t act like your meaning doesn’t exist. That’s why dogwhistles are dangerous. It’s always been a thing, but it’s been happening so much lately. So I was asking myself: why the uptick? (2/?)

I don’t know if it’s just me, but I’ve been noticing an increase in flowery language without substance in everyday life. Conservatives being pedantic about etymology. Narcissists saying stuff like “I was extremely offended and completely bewildered.” Adding adjectives for the performance. (1/?)

@microsoft.com Do you have literally any way of contacting customer service via phone? Last request ticket I opened was “resolved” by the assigned agent at 1AM without ever contacting me about my issue, through phone or email. My computer has been unreliable for SIX MONTHS. Do better.

Yes, I’ve been in contact with Windows, the manufacturer, and software people (though I really think this is a driver issue and unrelated to the app). Computer’s already been sent in for repairs but no dice. Just a glimpse into why I haven’t been posting much outside of sketches :)
