It’s partially because of Live Service Shooter fatigue, the fact it was the final announcement at TGA (which people were hoping would be for Half-Life 3, which is already incredibly unrealistic), and because people love to hate on boring shooters because they want to do the Concord thing again.

Haven’t played it yet, but it genuinely seems interesting. The new launch direct explains the basic gameplay loop and the unique features it has. The announcement trailer didn’t do it any favors and they should’ve released something like this direct way sooner. The hate IS extremely overblown.
