I'm curious about the production schedule for special books like this. I haven't looked it up, but Curt was usually producing at least a couple comics a month back then. Did this have a longer deadline to fit it in between regular assignments?

The original copy I had wasn't too bad even though I got a comic shop copy. It all depends on where in the print run your copy was printed.
