#1, Mastodon is actually decentralized. Bluesky has yet to even attempt this, but Mastodon has this fully implemented. Don't like what's going on in your slice of Masto? Just move to another one.

#3, actually has things like hashtag. and gifs. and videos. and pretty much everything that Bluesky doesn't have after 2 years of existing.
#4, Mastodon isn't a for-profit corporation. I don't think I have to explain this one.

#2, Mastodon has better moderation. Unlike Bluesky that has to moderate 4 million users at once, Mastodon is basically several different websites (called instances) moderated by their own dedicated teams. These teams being the people that made and host the instance. 2/3

You should try it. A lot of clients have different features the official app doesn't have, and certain instances might have better internet speeds

Because it was made by the CEO of Twitter, a company that gladly censored free speech in exchange for a higher stock value.
I have 100% Zero faith that Bluesky, which is literally just Mastodon but half the features, is going to diverge from the Venture Capitalist path Twitter went and died down.
