My husband & son made me an electric guitar! It was my Xmas gift from them & they had been working on it secretly for months.

It's absolutely stunning.

Yesterday went really well in the end. A mad day with family and lots of excitement and good food followed by cricket in bed with my love.

The test match! Get your mind out of the gutter!

We thought getting the deaf, non verbal, non-reading teen into VR might be tricky on several fronts.

But it really wasn't!

First game he tried? Angry Birds VR. Absolutely hilarious 😂

And you know that weird crystalline feeling you get in your muscles when you're about to come down with the flu but you're trying to convince yourself it's just fatigue?

Yeah. I've got that. Probably just tired, right?
December 24, 2025 at 9:21 AM
Well, 1 of us has been down with the sickness for 3 days, the other (me) is knackered from doing all the things & the teen is so excited about Xmas that he was up at 4am.

Don't think we are going to make it to the in-laws for Xmas day tomorrow. Worst case I have to take Z for the day without M.
December 24, 2025 at 9:19 AM
Can we reschedule Christmas Day for a week on Thursday instead? Might give everyone a chance to get over this flu?

Yeah? Anyone with me?

Solstice dinner is done. Time for a festive nap. Ha ha. No chance.
December 21, 2025 at 1:27 PM
Right, well, that's all the non-familial Xmas obligations done.

Tomorrow the tree goes up.

I've just unfollowed a podcast because they are giving away a haunted doll with the spirit of a disabled child in it, as a prize in a competition.

WTAF? Where do I even start with that? I can't even. So I won't.

Yes. I absolutely do want to learn crewel embroidery and do a dark moth cross stitch. Yes, I do want to learn needle felting, latch hooking, beautiful lettering and how to draw folk art flowers and perfect mandalas.

Yes yes yes to all these things.

But I've got to finish the MSc first!

It's raining here. Has been for days.

Nevertheless, I went into the gym and chucked some 50 kg sandbags over a yoke and got the 45 kg log over my head, so there's that.

I've not been totally idle.
December 9, 2025 at 1:56 PM
You know those days where you just cannot be bothered, but you know you have to just get on with stuff because not getting on with stuff is not an option?

I'm having one of those days.
December 9, 2025 at 1:51 PM
No. I do not need to learn how to play heritage spoons. Neither do my family or my neighbours.

Even if they do look tactile.

I must not succumb to this marketing campaign.
December 8, 2025 at 11:59 AM
It's true. I do want to do all the things.
December 8, 2025 at 8:56 AM
Argh. Well, let's see what happens in Adelaide. The Baz Ball experiment implodes.
December 7, 2025 at 9:59 AM
As a Brit, The Ashes is as frustrating, nail biting and anguishing as ever 😬🙄😞

Recently binned Spotify because I don't like their politics & switched to Tidal.

TIDAL IS SO MUCH BETTER!

Things that are irritating:

Endless speculation about the budget.

Black Friday lasting a month already.

I've read bits of the COVID Inquiry report & I doubt that Mum would have survived if things had been done differently.

But, perhaps we could have been with her in hospital, perhaps her funeral could have been less restrictive.

Perhaps caring for my Dad after she died would have been easier.

Up to watch the first Ashes test. Our set up is perfect: cold AF beer, in bed with the visuals via a projector and the commentary via TMS in one ear.

Now we just need the cricket to live up to it!

TMA due in on Thursday. Yes, it's the one that made me jack in the module last year to avoid having to do it

Yes, it's late in the day to be still working on it but I COULD FINISH THE BLOODY THING if the family would just leave me alone for a couple of hours

My frustration is FIZZING with spite.
November 16, 2025 at 7:26 PM
As from Twitter to here; Spotify to Tidal.
November 15, 2025 at 12:26 PM
It's that thing again. I don't know if I'm just really crap at the thing or I'm actually ok at the thing but they are really rude.

Three days annual leave used up doing all the hard stuff: rationalising and reorganising our storage unit and the storage space in the garage / gym.

Many trips to the tip. More coffee required.

It's dark out there so yes, I have festive lights in my window already. Because light, warmth and comfort are how I survive the winter.
