They do but they (we) just push their limit up high enough so they don't get dinged (much).

Still searching high and low for some esoteric standing issue to send it back down on

I.e., if "I max out my Sapphire Reserve every December because they dropped my credit limit to 25% of my bonus amount (but pay it off on January 15)" becomes extremely normal rich person behavior, are you still going to see your FICO dip 25 points that month? Would be weird.

I wonder if this would have ripple effects on credit scores--right now everyone who has a high score has a credit limit that's at least a few hundred percent of their highest spending month. If those come down do scores start bouncing all over the place?

is this true across airlines or could some of this be Delta consolidating price insensitive customers? (Also a New York story?)

The EU actually did this with Florida specifically back in the W days

I‘m too scared to check if this is true, but I recall that there are suspension bridges pictures on the Voyager record because they are perfect engineering and we figured aliens would know what they were.

You can't define class in relation to the median, it's about relationship to money, disposable income etc. You can have a society with a tiny middle class (mostly substance farmers) or a huge one (mid-century US) or, now, a shrinking one because so many people are getting wealthier.

If this blows up can we call the millennial lawyers who spent the entirety of the twenty-teens litigating about GSE RMBS purchases out of retirement? Is this supposed to make me feel young again? Are the purchases goals rich super-senior tranches of Alt-A securitizations? Is Judge Cote available?
January 8, 2026 at 10:02 PM
Yes absolutely (at least in the highly educated PMC world)

I could see a world where Iowa goes ahead of Ohio, but it would be a weird one.

Can’t wait to read all the new versions of the “never mind the tidal wave of applications and sky high yields, my vibesometer says no one wants to go to Harvard anymore” takes that this spawns.

Airlines have been weirdly slow to catch up to the fact that, e.g. lots of corporate travel policies let people book premium economy now (such that the seats are regularly sold out on popular routes—seems like they’re leaving money on the table).

The fact that there was no better kids’ release over the holiday for families that already saw Zootopia over Thanksgiving seems like a pretty big screw up.

We got one of these for Christmas when I was growing up, 10/10 present, will have waves of interest for years and years.

Did they redact "1600 Pennsylvania Avenue" from this? Like, that's absolutely what this person wrote right?

Also holding attention one on one at a cocktail party is not the same thing at all as hosting a TV show?

Has anyone looked into how much of the training set is legal writing? A lot of the ticks line up (slightly more formal, lots of comparative and logic flow language, em-dashes, etc.).

There are also far more "paid writers" in the world that are lawyers rather than journalists, fiction writers, etc.

Didn't it used to be pretty normal for well known restaurants to just stick around for a long time and switch chefs a bunch of times? La Tour d'Argent is still open! Buli existed before Feran! It's a good room and a well known name, it feels like it would be malpractice not to use those assets.
