The 27th Solvay Conference on Chemistry has just been opened by Prof. Ben Feringa (2016 Nobel prize laureate), and this mornings session will be chaired by Prof. Omar Yaghi, who was awarded the Nobel prize yesterday! 🎉 What a privilege to have the Solvay Institutes in Brussels 😃 #chemsky

Inspired by Amar Flood's cyanostars, former PhD student Lau Halgreen designed these small cyanostilbene compounds. Anurag Singh took over and found them to be great synthetic chloride transporters. Also a big thanks to the other contributors. Read the story in Chem. Eur. J.

Cyanostilbenes as Selective Chloride Carriers Relying on CH‐anion Interactions
This manuscript presents a series of eight small compounds based on the α-cyanostilbene motif and with different substituents. Three of these compounds show good rates of chloride transport, as well ...

🎉Congratulations to Dr Matus Chvojka👨‍🎓 for passing his PhD defence (co-supervised by Vladimir Sindelar at Masaryk University) and for winning the 2nd Jean-Marie Lehn prize (awarded by the French embassy in Prague and IOCB Tech Foundation for excellent Czech and Slovak Chemistry PhD students) #Chemsky

Thank you very much to all speakers, co-organisers, and participants of the #SolvayInstitutes workshop on "The Interplay of Molecules and Membranes" in Brussels for the 3 days of great discussions! And thanks a lot to the International Solvay Institutes for allowing us to organise this workshop.

After a great first day of scientific discussions, we're getting ready for day 2 of the #SolvayInstitutes workshop on "The Interplay of Molecules and Membranes" in Brussels.

Read all about the anion transport by bambusuril macrocycles in our new OBC paper. Years of hard work by Matus Chvojka and with Vladimir Sindelar have led to this story that explores 8 types of fluorinated substituents, leading to very different anion transport rates. doi.org/10.1039/D5OB...

We were happy to learn that our article about the Lucigenin assay to study anion transport in liposomes (doi.org/10.1002/anse...) is among the top 10 most-cited papers published in 2023 in Analysis&Sensing from @chemistryeurope.bsky.social. #TopCitedArticle

The International Solvay Institutes are hosting an interdisciplinary discussion workshop on the "The Interplay between Molecules and Membranes" from 28-30 April 2025 in Brussels.
We still have some spaces available. More information and registration at www.solvayinstitutes.be/event/worksh...

Congrats on your publication! But your challenge to get access to articles sounds familiar.🙁 That's why it is really useful to have a preprint uploaded, for instance @chemrxiv.bsky.social, to allow all scientists from all countries to access the results! 🟰request to the #ChemSky community.😃

In the meanwhile @aarontorreshuerta.bsky.social has joined the #ChemSky community as well, so I'd like to share this cover that he has prepared for our ChemistryEurope paper on phosphate transport: doi.org/10.1002/ceur...

Read all about the transport of inorganic phosphate and phosphate esters by synthetic anion receptors in our article in ChemistryEurope (#OpenAccess @chemistryeurope.bsky.social): doi.org/10.1002/ceur...
