Enjoyer of efficient infrastructure
I mean this is great but not really that impressive, and it's even crazier to see wide, TfL-managed roads (like Edgware and Euston road) without protected cycle lanes, despite them being desperately needed.

not really sure the mayor of London has the power to do that...

Serious question, why aren't there cycle lanes on like every TfL-controlled road? There would be very little stopping you from building cycle lanes on, say Euston or Edgware Road, for example

Still crazy that Westminster Council pedestrianised this but can't do the same for the tiny side streets in Soho.

This is really great to see, any chance of any becoming permanent?

It's honestly appalling that Land Rover are allowed to sponsor Wimbledon when their cars caused these tragic deaths.

Having read the comments, I can say that they are genuinely awful and depressing. I suppose they're just the vocal minority of people in Havering but even so they're very difficult to read

Great news, albeit very overdue!

Please take a page from Hidalgo's book and be more bold in building a more human friendly city 🙏🙏

Can we make them permanent fixtures please? It's not like demand to eat outside completely vanishes when the summer ends, and reclaiming public space away from cars is always beneficial for local businesses and pedestrians alike

Finally!! This is great news, SUVs serve no purpose other than to make this city more polluted, congested and dangerous

I think the people also just want a party that stands for something lol. at least the republicans have a desire for radical change, it just so happens that that change is fascism and aren't the spineless status quo enforcers that the dems are
June 4, 2025 at 4:51 PM
I know and this will certainly be an improvement but imo still leaves the area far too car-dominated
June 4, 2025 at 3:07 PM
Excellent news, though a drastic redesign of all the roads around Shepherd's Bush Green/Holland Park Roundabout is desperately needed
June 4, 2025 at 1:40 PM
to be fair part of the reason Paris is able to build so much new metro is because it gets way more funding than London does for such projects and has more expertise to build them more cheaply
June 4, 2025 at 10:28 AM
obviously it's hyperbolic but it has the same effect as it encourages more cars onto the road and severs more communities
May 31, 2025 at 6:55 PM
no but the Silvertown tunnel basically is one

"We've cleaned up London's air" while also building an urban motorway is a bit of a stretch
May 31, 2025 at 2:46 PM
I'm sure a lot of Havering residents will fall for his bullshit tho sadly
May 27, 2025 at 9:26 AM
Really should be renamed "GLA has once in a lifetime opportunity to get rid of Havering"
May 27, 2025 at 7:51 AM
if this is such a great success surely we should permanently pedestrianise it?
May 24, 2025 at 8:14 AM
I think it's better to move on an try to actually make things better, otherwise you're no better than the maga lot
