Tempted to buy some chicks now to secure your egg supply? Don't go into it half-assed - particularly in winter. Talk to veteran keepers, read Gail Damerow's books, be wary of feed store's advice - they exist to sell chicks. Get a proper brooder set up, and build a secure coop/pen BEFORE you buy.
