If anyone sold mordanted yarn, I’d be first in line. My passion is the colour aspect of natural dyeing.

New **Irish** yarn base coming soon!
It’s taken a lot of work, attending industry events and unanswered queries but finally I have found a really lovely, passionate supplier of Irish-grown wool! Fully traceable to the particular farm, Bluefaced Leicester/Romney blend, worsted spun, non-superwash.

Furiously knitting away over the next few evenings getting ready for a market in our town on Saturday.
These springtime hand warmers take a fair bit of time to make and the embroidery just as long, but hopefully they’ll keep somebody warm in days to come. All naturally dyed merino.

Been away in Spain for a few days staying with friends. Back now and preparing for local market on Saturday and starting training for new job.

Otto says, “Morning all. Let’s slay this brand new day.” (Well, he’s actually lying in his bed under all his blankets and will most likely stay there for most of the day.)

And the second pair finished with embroidery

You know the troublesome mittens? Well, I made another one for the erroneous colour. And ripped back to the thumb and re-knitted one of the misplaced thumbs. Just got to complete the embroidery on pair two. Phew! 🧶
January 13, 2025 at 4:21 PM
Doh! Two with wrong thumb placement and one with the wrong base colour 🫣🫣🫣 Not the best knitting start to 2025. 🧶

“You can’t get many colours from natural dyes,” they said.

We’re not gloating here. It’s just that given the number of GB small businesses forced to stop shipping to NI and EU due to GPSR rules coming in tomorrow, it’s especially good for Northern Ireland customers in particular to know where they can still buy. (And we can still ship to GB.)
December 12, 2024 at 8:22 AM
So today is all about applying for another freelance role (because two jobs aren’t enough), attending a webinar on GPSR while simultaneously getting ready for an all-day ladies’ lunch. Let Christmas begin 💫

Being located in Northern Ireland means we are in a unique position to be able to continue selling directly into the EU after the introduction of new GPSR rules next week.

Having sought guidance, I’ve been reassured that we can continue selling into the EU, NI and the rest of the UK as we do now.

Some colours I’ve been dyeing over the last couple of days. I love the vibrancy of how naturally dyed yarn emerges from the pot. When they dry, they will change a little.

Morning, morning. Today is all about posting out orders, mordanting yarn and figuring out if I can still get any supplies from the rest of the UK to N. Ireland, thanks to GSPR.

“Be not inhospitable to strangers lest they be angels in disguise.” George Whitman.

We popped to Shakespeare and Company about half an hour before it closed yesterday evening. It was a good time to go.
