You don't need MMT. You don't need to engage in the category errors of freaking out about debt crises & bond markets & hyperinflation & the US going bankrupt. You just need to understand undergraduate-level macroeconomics & some basic domestic & int'l political economy of monetary & fiscal policy.
People <really> don’t like it when you (correctly) point out that countries issuing global reserve currencies, under flexible exchange rates, in an era of unprecedented global capital flows, face no meaningful fiscal constraints & it’s politics all the way down. But it’s politics all the way down.

The zombie idea of the household analogy & the idea that arbitrary debt/GDP levels are hard economic constraints, instead of purely political choices over tradeoffs, never dies bc the media always laps it up
