Tim Noad has been awarded an MBE in the King's Birthday Honours, in recognition of his international reputation as one of the most accomplished artists and craftspeople working in his field, combining heraldry, calligraphy, design and illustration.

Making shoe last is now a critically endangered craft with very very few people who can carve a piece of wood to size such that a shoe can be created around it. Probably not a problem in Roman times with their appreciation of real craftsmanship! @heritage-crafts.bsky.social
For #ReliefWednesday a relief from a #Roman funeral chest depicting a shoe last, a hammer, an ascia (a form of adze), and a rasp. The deceased produced shoe lasts, it was important to show the source of income.
