Oh when I had this issue too a little while back I figured out ur screen brightness makes a HUGE difference! Again it’s silly that csp doesn’t have this issue… but setting my screen to 50% brightness helped a ton w the procreate induced scorching

i read a lot of books I consider challenging but don’t worry guys while I work I watch smallbrain shows like criminal minds. And recently umm. Naruto 🚶 (DID YOU GUYS KNOW the main guy hotchner just unceremoniously leaves the show after like 10 seasons basically from 1 ep to another It felt crazy)

i learned about this via the ‘Frankie’s shelf’ YouTube channel & was morbidly intrigued by the My Immortal vibes emanating off of this…. Tbh it did not disappoint, but the carrying-power of that fell off a bit as the book went on 🤔 the messaging was utterly unsubtle but I had a good time w it djdnd

at certain points the tone of the narrative would shift, I think, into what was v much Remarque needing to get stuff off his chest - this was immersion-breaking, but being interested in the authors lived experiences meant I didn’t mind it here; also the writing is quite beautiful throughout… (2/2)

I watched the 2022 movie adaptation of this and went: let me put myself through that again 👽 it was sad, obviously, but an often very Immediate-feeling portrayal of the chaotic/pointless experience of war (wwi in this case), banned under wwii-era fascist govts for its critical stance (1/2)

it felt somewhat cynical in the same way books like neuromancer are - the protag isn’t going to Overthrow The System here… coincidentally I read the Ant Fugue chapter in ‘the mind’s I‘ soon after finishing blindsight & it helped me understand the whole sentience/intelligence thing better!

don’t let the TED BUNDY opening quote scare u off I swear I almost put it down for fear of Cringe Edginess, but this turned out to be a heavy on the neuro-sci, interesting take on a ‘post-human’ future! (1/2)

I do it by hand! But the brush is set to linear burn so it’s not to the point where I need to swap colours to achieve the effect djfnfndn… only go over pooling areas manually 💪
