Highly encourage everyone to read this thread.
Let me blunt: people are cheering Brian Thompson's assassination because megacorp CEOs have as much or more influence over people's daily lives as their elected representatives, but neither their terms nor their scope for evil are meaningfully curtailed by a democracy they own in all but name.

If you don't want random individuals extrajudicially murdering CEOs in revenge for their policies, ask yourself: what actual, meaningful recourse does an average person have if a CEO institutes a policy that (say) directly leads to the preventable death of their parent, spouse or child?

Right now, CEOs are the self-appointed rulers of a disembodied, parasitic shadow-empire, siphoning vast resources from nations that function as capitalist vassal-states without any oath of stewardship or care towards the people, lands and resources they exploit. It's untenable. It must stop.

What on earth is going on w the right in Canada since Trump got elected? Like they just gave up on the notion of sovereignty.

Niche? Humans squabbling over boundaries while climate change threatens mass extinction.
Being focused on a niche issue like climate change right now is like looking for a cougar when there’s a grizzly on the trail in front of you.

If you associate in ANY capacity with Caryma Sa’d or Dean Blundell (who called her a “total boss” for doing this), please unfollow me.

I’m sure they’ll get some kind of sick pleasure from me mentioning them here. I’m really hoping this will be the last time I have to.

Now to salvage my weekend. 🫡

One thing I find interesting about the echo chamber complaint is that an echo chamber just won a presidential election.

Put aside the convo of whether it’s “good” or “bad” for a moment. The far right has devoted enormous resources + time to building echo chambers & loathes spaces they don’t control
The "bluesky is an echo chamber" think pieces that keep popping up really tickle me because they show how certain people genuinely believe social media should be for debating and arguing and not talking about the things that make you happy and sharing art with the world.

Pro tip: When a maga enters the chat, I go to their profile page. But before I block them, I first block all of their maga followers and maga following, back my way out and block the OP last.

I Watched This Game: Canucks come up short to Rangers in valiant effort
Elias Pettersson stepped up, Conor Garland played with nearly-new-dad strength, and Kiefer Sherwood put up big numbers.
