Mainly here for the Formula One chat. Also from Stevenage.
For afters, Brazilian pavê de limão. If you are thinking it looks a bit like tiramisu, you would be very very wrong. Apparently THE BRAZILIANS DID IT FIRST.

It's got condensed milk, whipped cream and lime juice in it as well as biscuits. A deconstructed cheesecake!

So! Brazilian estrogonofe de carne. If you are thinking it looks and sounds like stroganoff, you would be correct. It's got tomatoes in, and I think it's more usually made with chicken. I also bottled the french fries (yes, fries AND rice. Apparently).

Simply lovely. #f1 #braziliangp #foodsky

Food for the #F1 #MexicanGP is what your food magazines call 'Mexican-style' and I call 'Anglo-Mexican fusion.

To whit: chilli, guacamole and sweet corn soup.

Just getting my defence in early that it's been a trying week, so as a result I outsourced the food for the #f1 #USGP.

Normal service will be resumed next race.

Had a go at laksa soup for the #SingaporeGP

I feel I managed to successfully balance the coconut milk with everything else in the broth.

Plus, all food is improved by aubergine and fried tofu. No, I don't know if that is authentic. Just that it is tasty.

Also, allegedly, you can make #Baku baklava out of a more home cooking friendly pastry than filo, so I did.

Also great.

For the #f1 #AzerbaijanGP I made lavangi chicken, mainly because I am really bad at plov.

But it's a REVELATION is a stuffing made of onion, walnuts, prunes and breadcrumbs.

As is smearing pomegranate molasses under and over the skin.

Mmmmmm. Recommended. #foodsky #amcooking #baku

Also zuppa inglese. Which is very, very, VERY DEFINITELY Italian, has been for centuries, and if it was, once, possibly, inspired by someone's desire for English trifle, that was fleeting, and look, you can only make it with a special Italian liqueur unavailable outside the country... #F1 #ItalianGP

The #ItalianGP demands lasagna.
So lasagna it was. #F1 #amcooking

Got round to eating the summer pudding wot I made for the #BritishGP.

Astonishingly good as well as astoundingly easy to make.

Lightly stewed red berries ftw.

Beer battered fish (plus chips) is surprisingly easy to make.

Quite British for the #BritishGP too.

#f1

(The summer pudding is for tomorrow. But I *made* it today, so that will count, right?)

Sorry lads, I think the weather at Silverstone might be my fault.

I'm half way through making summer pudding.

Also made two not strudels. One with apple and raisins and one with apricots and almonds.

They are not strudels because of the pastry, apparently. But Austrian (also apparently) which is the point.

Gotta be a schnitzel for the #f1 #AustrianGP but those are no mere potatoes but erdäpfelsalat, a potato salad with a mustardy dressing.

Advantages of a late start to an #f1 race? I get the cooking challenge done in advance.

Butter tarts for the #CanadianGP!

Also french onion soup. I'd like to say it's in honour of #LeMans but actually I just didn't want to make wet chips, aka poutine.

After the elaborate shenanigans of last week's #f1 food prep, I made gazpacho and chocolate mousse for the #SpanishGP, which required mere minutes and almost no actual cooking.
June 1, 2025 at 8:01 PM
The pissaladiere monegasque* is ready.

Nice! A perfect balance of salty and slightly sweet.

#f1 #MonacoGP

*It's got tomatoes in it, not just onion, which is what makes it specific to the Principality. Apparently. Never fear! It is mostly onion.
May 25, 2025 at 5:07 PM
The only thing more complicated and slightly baffling than that race is me trying to make a strawberry mille feuille.

Gotta make an effort for Monaco baby, though, right?

By the way, if you thought I'd missed the #MiamiGP the answer is sort of, but not entirely.

I've never made tiramisu before, but when it is the #ImolaGP it'd be rude not to.

Ditto for bolognese sauce with polenta.

Anyway! #F1 cooking cannot be completely ignored just because it is Easter (Happy Easter to all those...) so I give you coffee made with cardomon and a sort of version of masoob, a bread cream, dried fruit and banana mix. #SaudiArabianGP
April 20, 2025 at 6:56 PM
Spent quite a lot of the #BahrainGP making Noor Murad's fega’ata, or upside down rice, a meat and non meat version. Worth it though! Must buy her book. #f1

Food in honour of the
#JapaneseGP has got to be ramen soup. Well, there's some stock in there somewhere, I promise. #F1
April 6, 2025 at 5:47 PM
But that doesn't mean we can't eat. I give you hot and sour soup and something I am calling 'a stir fry'. #f1 #ChineseGP

On the upside, I get to celebrate the international nature of the sport again through food. Or rather, the kids do. Last year I horrified them with marmite for breakfast ('It smells like cat food'), this year, fairy bread ('wut?'). #F1 #AusGP
