The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992) is (tentatively) the greatest Christmas movie ever made. Michael Caine is perfect as Scrooge and you get much better songs and Muppetry than in Treasure Island. Peak.

Vampire's Kiss (1988) is a manic deeply uncomfortable movie and a great showpiece for Cage. A movie formed of maximalist decisions can be delightful.

The Parking Lot Movie (2010) is a treatise on life, on work, on entitlement, and on America. It could have been tighter but I'm glad I've seen it.

Full Metal Jacket (1987) needs no introduction and to me I think that's part of the problem. Almost every line in this movie has been engrained in the culture and quoted by schoolchildren such that what may have been situational black humour ultimately stands to blunt the anti-war edge.

Annette (2021) is definitely trying some things, a manic whirlwind that really plays with the musical format. I think I appreciated it more than I enjoyed it.
