Just wanted to be clear -- this applies to -anyone- who feels marginalized in the same way, not just trans-women. I don't feel like that comedy routine said any truths about men or masculinity, but it showed me how many people think.

I realize now that I'd rather be a good thing that's destroyed than a bad thing that comes to thrive and inherit a world like -that-. This is why I've been able to find peace with a lot of the fear I feel on a daily basis, and why I want to bring a bit of that peace to others whenever possible.

People trying to get rid of us, in large part, were faced with the same ugliness being pushed onto them, except instead of being able to reject it, they made it into an integral part of themselves; they now resent people who discovered that they actually had a choice to NOT become that and took it.

I didn't feel like I could bring good things to the world and it left me with severe childhood depression. Thankfully I've gained enough wisdom after transition to realize it's very much not true. I realized people like us are delicate and beautiful things that have so much to offer the world. -

I realized I was going to grow up to be perceived as a man. I remember somebody did a comedy routine that I heard very young, where they said men were expendable, a violent ugly thing, a mistake -- it snuffed out that part of me for a while. -
