Thank you! 🥰 and I like the idea of having a document in writing so we can both stay on the same page

Absolutely planning to have a conversation about that! Thanks ❤️

I hope they’re good with that because that’s all I can be 😂

In a surprising turn of events, I now have a graduate student 🤗

I want to do this right. So I’m soliciting advice from the wise & experienced 😅 - what are your best tips for being a good advisor/PI/graduate student mentor? ✨

I did! My arm was really sore that night and the next day but after I was totally fine 🤗

It’s whatever you prefer! I’m right-handed and didn’t want that arm sore, so I did them both in my left arm 🤗

My husband kicked off his birthday by picking me up from the airport at 2:30am… with two dozen roses and no complaints 😭😍

Happy Birthday to the best husband I could’ve prayed for 😘✨

I took a long break from posting as often. Honestly social media was tanking my mental health.

But I was reminded the importance of sharing joy ✨ so I’ll post joyful things more. It doesn’t mean I’m not aware the world is a dark place for many of us. But I’m choosing to add in some light ✨

The professional development workshops at the @blackinneuro.bsky.social conference are def whipping us academics into shape! We’ve been encouraged to grow our personal brands, be consistent on LinkedIn, & brainstorm ways to incorporate innovation into our work to maximize our impact as scientists.

Happy #BINW25! What a whirlwind it's been since we started, but I credit so much of my progress to the community I've found through blackinneuro.bsky.social.

In honor of 5 years of #BIN, we'd love for you to share your Then & Now posts, just remember to use the hashtag #BlackInNeuroRollCall.
Text on a dynamic background with photos of Brielle in her lab as a postdoc and her lab at Harvard. The text reads, “Celebrating 5 years of diversifying the neurosciences. In July 2020, I was in the 3rd year of a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford, studying attention dysfunction in epilepsy. Now, I’m an assistant professor at Harvard, leading a lab investigating circuit mechanisms of attention and cognition in health and disease. #BINW25 #5YearsofBIN

#BINW25 Day 2 kicked off with an incredible panel on Science Communication & Ethics ✨

Great advice from our panelists:
•Ask the community what they want to learn!
•Be transparent about research (pros/cons, who has access, etc)
•Collaborate with others w/ similar passions

Happy #BlackInNeuro Week 2025!!! ❤️🎉

So much has changed over the past 5 years and we’d love to see how you’ve grown! Use the link below to make your own Then & Now post 🥰

#BINW25 #BlackInNeuroRollCall #5YearsOfBIN 🙌🏾 🧠
A Then and Now post with photos from 2020 and 2025. It reads CELEBRATING 5 YEARS OF DIVERSIFYING THE NEUROSCIENCES. In July 2020, I was finishing my third year as a PhD student at UC Irvine. Worried about advancing to candidacy and hoping to teach someday. Now I'm starting my fourth year as an Assistant Professor at the University of Minnesota! I teach multiple neuroscience courses, lead outreach, and direct programs that support our communities! The Black In Neuro logo is in the bottom left hand corner with #BINW25 #5YearsOfBIN. Colorful banners are across the top and bottom of the page.
