Nowhere did I say I have given up. I vote. I work the polls. I make phone calls. I do canvassing. I'm talking about people who don't vote and unfortunately I know quite a few of them. They are frustrated and they feel like the system doesn't care about them. That perception needs to change.

I wish that this place was a safe zone from the hatred, but it is definitely not. I have seen plenty of magats on here. I don't engage and I block them. They feed on your emotions

It's not approval. It's uneducated people who feel their vote doesn't make a difference. It's distrust of a system that is failing us. It's hopelessness. It's sad is what it is. We are not taught enough about civic engagement. I didn't know anything about politics until 10 years ago. I was almost 40

I absolutely 100% agree with you. It makes me insane when people are racist or misogynistic or bigoted or say gross things in public and everyone just kind of half smiles at them and looks away for god. Sakes say something he didn't think twice about saying something out loud. Why should you?

People need to be more willing to snap at bigots' trial balloons. Too often, I've seen people testing hate to see what gets called out and what gets ignored... and too often I've seen people softpeddle out of fear of breaking decorum instead of naming what was said.
