I just read "The Tangled Garden: A Canadian Cultural Manifesto for the Digital Age" by Richard Stursberg, and in a chapter he writes about how Harper's government made substantial cuts to Canadian arts, painted the CBC as a Liberal mouthpiece, and treated Canadian culture with "malign neglect".
