Just…hug whoever you call your parents in your life. The older you get, the quicker the time you spend with them seems to tick away.
Im going to call my mom now and just tell her how much I love her because who knows how long she’ll remember that for.

and as soon as I parked at home, I just broke down. I can imagine being asked similar questions just a few years from now and how unintentionally hurtful they might be and feel horrible over asking at all. I know he probably didn’t take it personally but

So I felt like shit asking that. Sometime later, someone asked the pres of my company the same question and he made up an answer. If anything, I’m glad I asked first because he at least had time to come up with something. But after that, I left, walked 20min through a snow storm to my car

I talk to her almost every day over the phone because we live far apart and I’m planning on visiting home soon to see how she’s doing in her normal environment. Sometimes, her and my dad come to visit but it’s just not enough.

Personal moment:

My mother hasn’t been formerly diagnosed with any particular ailment, but her memory has been clearly failing over the past 2 years. It’s been really, really hard and I don’t talk about it. To anyone, really.

I asked the president of my company in jest and he said “I don’t know.”

I jokingly said, “well time to find out!”

He said “my dad is dead and my mother has Alzheimer’s so I am not going to be able to find out” and kinda just ended the conversation.

I didn’t know what to say.
