A system's purpose isn't its promise - it's its pattern.

Crypto promised financial freedom without gatekeepers. What it delivered at scale: pump-and-dump schemes preying on the hopeful while insiders got rich.

Look at what systems do, not what they say.
If your website gives me a language other than what is reported from my User Agent then you are doing it wrong.

This auto-detection and redirect to language-specific pages is utterly stupid and you should feel bad.

Sufficiently staffed teams can totally self-host while keeping things speedy. It's all about staying lean and working with what you've got. Sometimes, diving into a library teaches that sticking to the basics and building from scratch is the real win! 💪

Helping AI level up unexpectedly leveled up my engineering leadership.✨ Teaching IS learning.

Scar tissue, frustration, and pragmatism shaped my Django setup. Ditched Django Forms—always tweaking them to get control. Now, form logic is direct in the view. Flat. Explicit. Fast. Copilot vibes. Not CRUD—it's inbound curation. Data comes, I shape it

Good morning pour over.

You can't handle my dad jokes. Reply with your morning cup!

Part of Google Gemini signup. I'm glad Google is calling this out directly.

Dont worry smooth-brained left of bell-curve friends, you've probably already gifted Google and all of their ad partners with your deepest, darkest desires, habits, and signals. This won't mean much for you.

Thinking of writing a book...but more like your granny's home remedy guide. Advice like, "Vertical scaling is a breeze and tackles capacity issues for ages. Chances are, your company won't need to worry about horizontal scaling with distributed systems!"

Time to tackle the AI FOMO! OpenAI keeps churning out new releases without clear direction, leaving many overwhelmed. 😵‍💫 How do we adapt? How do new users pick the right tools? It’s chaotic, and someone needs to guide the way through these murky waters.

Saw a tech bro at the airport hitting on my wife with "I work at Google." She leaned in and bombarded him with questions about ad saturation and data use. His face when she was done 👉 priceless.

AI's getting funny these days 😂 Coding a plane to land with "don’t make mistakes" as a suggestion. We laughed at monkey photos for millions. Now coding vibes are saying "close enough is good". Is this the plot of a comedy or just tech evolution? 🤔✈️

Are hacks more advanced now, or are devs struggling under abstraction overload, tool fatigue, and cargo-cult coding? With "vibe coders" and code-assist, they're just one autocomplete away from an app store meltdown. And web3? It's like clueless kids stacking blackboxes for their

Always keep your ear to the ground even if you have a gig.

The rug pull can happen at any moment, and it sucks to be caught out and feeling bewildered.

It never hurts to take a friendly meeting or two every month.

My bet is that we see lots of abandoned projects as the tourists dont have the fundamentals to run a software project across all dimensions and domains (observability, logging, metrics, monitoring, incident response, security, etc)

Platforms turned expertise into pennies.

Made fortunes selling your audience back to you.

Your knowledge. Your audience. Your profit.

Time to stop feeding platforms.

Start being one.

I know everyone is excited for the growth of Bluesky, and I'm here for it (obviously). That said, it is only when we can bring this kind of energy to the game that it will be a true tour de force.

People who deeply know their domain create signal that no algorithm can match.

A music nerd's personal collection.

A programmer's essential reading list.

A cryptographer's research repository.

If you want to build decentralized apps then look into what self-hosting really is.

Understand it is simply owning a suite of long-lived linux skills and (maybe) some ansible.

This kind of self-sufficiency is unmatched and pays dividends quickly.

Twenty years of SEO.

Two decades of dancing for algorithms.

The cost? Everything weird and wonderful about the internet.

Time to build something algorithms can't touch: Human curation.

Two decades of hip-to-Google SEO, now every platform's got us doing the same dance 🎶

We've given up our quirky internet freedom for clicks and metrics 📉

Real magic? People, not algorithms. It's not about beating the system, it's crafting your own game. 📚✨

Big Tech says bigger is better.

They're wrong.

The future isn't massive indexes or smarter algorithms.

It's expert-curated spaces where signal cuts through noise.

Small is the new scale.
