Planning a trip to the Park Bookshop for some last-minute gift shopping?

Be sure to plan ahead by noting our holiday hours! The Park Bookshop will be closing at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, December 24, and will be closed on Thursday, December 25.

Lockwood House, Room 2-22: Located in the southeast corner of the house, it has a rich array of Civil War graffiti exposed to view. On the walls are remnants of numerous layers of paint and shreds of wallpaper, but most has been removed to reveal an extensive amount of penciled graffiti, mostly names and military units. The walls are plastered, directly onto the brick on the east and south walls. Floors are random-width tongue and groove pine boards that span the entire room without joints.

The recent federal government shutdown lasted more than one month. At the start of the shutdown, Gov. Morrisey allocated state funds to keep both Harpers Ferry National Historical Park (HFNHP) and New River Gorge open. In Harpers Ferry, the funding kept. . . (1/7)

Due to ​​planned maintenance that will result in the water being off in Lower Town, the Park Bookshop and Lower Town restrooms​ will be closed on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.

The Harpers Ferry Park Association, which is the nonprofit partner of the park, has reached an agreement with the park to reopen the Bookshop during the government shutdown.

HFPA is devastated to learn of the passing of our Certified Guide, Board Member, and friend, Jeff Evans. Jeff's passion for Harpers Ferry, history, nature, and national parks was palpable. He will be deeply missed. We send our sincere condolences to his family.
