AND DONE with the 2025 thread, so I can now properly start this one with my totally not made in mspaint checklist for media to experience this year!

It’s 50 items total which seems like a lot so I split them between must-do’s (or at least I really wanna do) and extra bonus ones to try if I can :D

Final Horizons DLC (12/15)

DLC gets its own post

New characters are super fun and that alone makes it > the base game, plus better ending

Difficulty balance however was ASS, and the main reason the game overall feels inconsistent with that to me, esp paired with the jank

Still liked it overall!

Sonic Frontiers (12/12)

I had to rush through this game AND it’s dlc before it left PS+

First sonic game I’ve ever beaten and I enjoyed my time with it. Exploring the world was fun and the story was as good as people say, but it was incredibly janky at parts & difficulty felt poorly balanced

Death Battle indie era (12/7)

Perfect Segway from that last bit heh

I’m really glad DB was able survive the shutdown, and I think besides one episode the whole indie era has been solid to outstanding throughout!

Epithet Erased (11/21)

Very adorable and hilarious show my friend asked me to watch, all the characters were extremely charming and the DND-like rules of the world were really fun

I’ll probably check out the book sequel thing Prison of Plastic this year

DB should do Giovanni vs Papyrus cause peak

Silksong (10/6)

Best game I played all year and its not close, makes HK genuinely hard to return to by improving that much

Like Dead Cells the difficulty was a lot for me and often made me almost drop the game, but it was worth it to continue cause everything was so perfect

Also Hornet my beloved

Hollow Knight (8/26)

Date may be inaccurate here since I played it years ago I just don’t remember if I finished it, and played it again to prep for Skong

Not much new to say:
-game pretty
-music good
-gameplay good
-Vibes and world building peak

Godhome can fuck off though, might never beat it

Kingdom Hearts (8/7)

I grew up playing KH2 as a kid but never finished it and decided last year to finally start the series properly

While it is VERY flawed mechanically I really enjoyed my time with it, largely due to the absurd charm of it all. And that’s coming from a non-Disney fan!

Murder Drones (5/23)

Goofy ahh show I really cherish pfffft

Was my first Glitch show so I didn’t know what to expect but I really enjoyed the weird mix of Saturday morning cartoon energy mixed with analogue horror aesthetics and world, and I love basically every major character

Hyper Light Drifter (beat after Dead Cells I forget when)

Absolutely gorgeous game that I suck at lol

I didn’t get the games themes beyond the obvious illness aspect, which along with how much time I spent looking for items makes me feel like I need to replay to really “get” it if that makes sense

Dead Cells (finished first run on 5/3)

I got into this solely to prepare for Indie Cross ep2 (which I somehow STILL haven’t watched) and I loved it, no roguelike has gotten me as addicted as this one

…though oh my goddddd it’s so hard that it makes it difficult to pick up after a break

Yeah kinda dropped doing this cause year was rough and I kept feeling too awkward to update it for the few things I actually did in the year…BUT I’m gonna try harder this year!
I’m gonna finish the below thread from last year, then post this years stuff!
And making a to do list of media for 2026 :D

The island was what got me to watch Geats in the first place (and also Frieren) so I can’t complain too much about anything concerning the community reactions no matter how toxic they got lol

Also the fan art was all so fun Bullet Time will never leave my heart

The movie mentioned in the first post, my friend showed me this randomly on YouTube, absolutely insane it was there for free.
I feel like there’s not alot I can say that isn’t obvious: beautiful animation, really likable (gay) characters, a great message about art… and emotionally painful
