Though debated beforehand, in 1924 Edwin Hubble proved without a doubt that many previously described "nebulae" were in fact galaxies outside of the Milky Way, which had been thought to be the entirety of the universe. Wilson wouldn't have known for sure which proposal was true.

Despite his name, Higgsbury disappeared before Peter Higgs was born in 1929. This means he not only doesn't know about the higgs boson and higgs mechanism, he wouldn't have even been able to meet the man that they're named after!
