I also have an idea, Moulton: don't primary established candidates who are more progressive than you when that's the reason they've been winning for decades.

Not to be hopeless by a long shot, but we can't rely on old men dying for things to snap into stability. We need to keep reading and talking and having shitty conversations with our families and friends. We can't counter the men or the money so we need to counter the disinfo and rhetoric. Every day.

A few years ago that would have been a more reasonable hope, but CBS has fully bought in and the other legacy orgs have been siding with business for a long long time. Fox is almost irrelevant at this point, they've got control of a major network and they won the Internet.

It's wild to hear someone concerned with my local govt go "did you see this video about Flock?" and be able to respond with "if you think that's nuts you should see his aphex twin material." Big fan.

Stranger Things S1 showed some of the version of the 80s I remember (Will's house, Hopper's house): everything brown, not yet updated from the previous decade, everyone eating terrible casseroles. Then they went all "isn't the mall fun!" and I've been adding context for Gen Z friends ever since.

I do a similar thing with music when I'm trying to nail a specific vibe I've heard before, I'll figure out how to play the song I'm inspired by and by the end I'll have internalized the mechanics and I can write something new. Feels less weird to know professional creatives do the same thing

Weird too how it's paid through private insurance, if any insurance at all. You'd think they'd at least be into the "free market" aspect.
