I definitely agree. It is what I would prefer myself too. When you care about doing a good job, it is easy to overthink. But fortunately there are hundreds of reasons, and most of them outside your control. It is usually not worth using energy on things you can’t influence, you deserve some honesty!

People are inherently emotional, so admitting poor planning, a change of mind, or a financial hiccup can feel humiliating. Going silent burns bridges, which is something most want to avoid. An excuse may feel safer when reasons are poor. I wish more would choose assertiveness, even when it’s hard.
