"[Cleveland-Cliffs' cancelled] investment in environmentally friendly steel would have "helped to future-proof the plant." Meanwhile other companies, like Hyundai in Louisiana, which is planning a $6 billion hydrogen-integrated steel mill, are moving forward with similar technology."

Cleveland-Cliffs was awarded a federal grant last year to make its steel plant in JD Vance's hometown more environmentally friendly.
