Me: Do you want to watch a show together?
Kid2: Nah, I'm going to watch a show I've been watching on my own. **Turns on TV & starts watching Arrested Development.**
Me: (whispers) So proud.

The number of times I have searched Libby for a smutty audiobook and my library only has the German version is definitely not zero. Might we have a German speaker in my library's acquisitions?

Overheard at a store today.

Mom: Mommy doesn't smell like mayonnaise.

Of course my state rep who supports conversion therapy also voted in support of the idiotic redistricting. 🙄 What an embarrassment! #HoosierVoter

Today I learned that gophers can whisper. I also got to chat with my teen about "Humanity's Temporal Range" & Hoosier authors. Thanks @johngreensbluesky.bsky.social !

I do not feel I was adequately warned about the arts and crafts part of having a senior child involved in school activities. Is this a Midwest specific thing? I've also gotten minimal guidance on what things are supposed to look like, and my kid assures me I am very extra. 🤷

As someone who watches a LOT of softball, listening to baseball chatter about pitchers is fascinating!

That moment when you realize you do not have the capacity to deal with one single speck of our VERY dysfunctional healthcare system again today. Phew.

I met someone today. Their partner introduced me as a doula. Their response, "Oh yes, clearly. You have doula energy."

Can I actually learn Spanish from commercials? Probably not, but I'm sure gonna keep trying to pick out words I know and using context clues to figure out what's going on.

Things I'm so proud that our kids ask regularly when presented with information:
-Is that true?
-How do you know it's true?
-Can you share the source with me?

Now if only I could get our parents to do the same.

Today my child told me that she looked up my dissertation to see what citation style I used. Her comment, "that bibliography was insane mom, and you had to actually type those out!"

"Loving ourselves and each other deepens our disruption of the dominant systems. They want us unwell, fearful, exhausted, and without deep self-love because you are easier to manipulate when you are distracted by what is not real or true."
