The Town of Hillsborough will begin its seasonal collection of loose leaves in November. Between November and the end of January, Hillsborough residents can rake their leaves to the side of the street for collection.

The last closed section of the Riverwalk greenway reopened to the public today after being damaged during Tropical Storm Chantal.

Riverwalk is now open from Eno Mountain Road to the state’s greenway that connects to the Occoneechee Speedway.

Traffic in Hillsborough and the surrounding area will be delayed Saturday for the Tarwheels BikeFest.

Cyclists will start rides in small groups between 7:30 and 9 a.m. in downtown Hillsborough.

At last night's session, Government 101 participants heard from Police Chief Jason Winn and Orange Rural Fire Department Chief Jeff Cabe at the Waterstone fire station. Participants also learned about fingerprinting, checked out vehicles and some chose to check out the view from the ladder truck!

Hillsborough Water Plant Operator III Randall Lloyd received special recognition from a statewide organization today in Raleigh.

The North Carolina Waterworks Operators Association awarded Lloyd the 2025 A-Surface Operator of the Year.
